Biography.
A A Price (b. 1973, London, United Kingdom) is a contemporary sculptor and applied artist based in Sussex, United Kingdom. Working primarily in non-ferrous, usually precious, metals and gemstones, he is best known for his ongoing series Bright Creatures — small, usually wearable, whimsical sculptures that blend fine craftsmanship with playful storytelling. Price employs traditional techniques such as hand carving wax and pewter for casting into precious metals, occasionally incorporating digital methods to achieve specific forms. His process also includes direct carving into gemstones and precious metals.
Price’s work is characterised by a meticulous attention to detail and an imaginative fusion of natural and fanciful influences. His Bright Creatures series draws loosely from British wildlife, children’s literature, and folklore, creating Companion Pieces that simultaneously evoke both familiarity and curiosity. These works explore nuanced themes such as the nature of value and preciousness, the often regressive passage into adulthood, and the human impulse to anthropomorphise. Each piece reflects an inquiry into emotional resonance, capturing moments of affection, innocence, and the tender absurdities of nostalgia.
A A Price’s works feature in various national and international private collections. His pieces have been exhibited at notable events including several UK Tahitian Pearl Trophies and the ‘Red Carpet Glamour’ Platinum Exhibition at Earls Court, London.
